Depending on the area the deceased is from may mean you want certain customs to be followed

Some of these customs include the lowering of the coffin with the use of cords in parts of Scotland, in parts of Wales they pin cards to lampposts to inform others of the recent death, and in Northern Ireland there is a custom that the coffin is passed from one person to the next.

Generally in England however there are not any unique traditions, except that usually the time between the death and the funeral is longer, and that rosemary is often place on or in the grave for remembrance.

If you have a tradition from your local area that you wish to be used during the funeral it may be a good idea to discuss the addition with your funeral directors to check if it is possible.

You may even want to add a regional theme to your funeral, such as the use of kilts if the deceased was from Scotland, and in so doing you are making the funeral even more unique to your loved one.
